The people behind MicroClass

A small team obsessed with how people actually learn

We're former students, tutors, and engineers who got tired of watching good study time get lost in open-ended chats. Here's who's building the alternative.

How we got here

MicroClass started as a shared frustration: office hours that never had room, chat AIs that answered questions but never taught anything, and study sessions that ended with a vague sense of maybe-understanding. A few of us who'd tutored, graded, and crammed for finals decided to build the tool we'd actually wanted.

  1. 1First prototype: one AI teacher walking through a single lesson plan, tested on our own study group.
  2. 2Added the assistant and student personas — one voice teaching turned out to feel nothing like a real class.
  3. 3Built the quiz layer after realizing 'I think I get it' isn't the same as actually getting it.
  4. 4Today: still a small team, still teaching the sessions we wished we'd had.

What we believe

We were students first

Most of us tutored, TA'd, or crammed for orals before we ever wrote a line of this product. We design for the version of ourselves who needed this.

AI should show its work

We'd rather ship a plan you can review and correct than a black box that sounds sure of itself. Confidence isn't the same as being right.

Understanding is checked, not assumed

We don't trust a session that ends with 'does that make sense?' We'd rather know, and so would you.

Small enough to answer you personally

No ticket queue routes you to a script. If you write in, someone from this page reads it personally.
